Scenic Stay

A living demo to showcase whats possible

Travel website design

Overview

The Problem #

Scenic Stay isn’t a real business — but the challenge it solves is very real.

Many small tourism and hospitality brands, especially those in rural or outdoor destinations, rely heavily on social media, third-party booking platforms, or outdated websites. They often lack a cohesive platform that showcases their offerings in a professional, user-friendly way. This leads to lost bookings, trust issues, and missed opportunities to stand out in a crowded market.

Whether it’s a boutique cabin rental or a guided outdoor experience, the same pattern emerges:

Potential guests hesitate when a business doesn’t feel “put together” online.

Scenic Stay was created as a demo project to prove what’s possible. It represents the kind of business that should have a beautiful, fast, and functional website—but often doesn’t.

“We talk to so many businesses where the product is great, but the website is the weak link.”

The Solution #

We built Scenic Stay from the ground up using Site Stitcher, our own website-building framework tailored for modern service-based businesses. The goal was to show—not just explain—how a business like this could thrive online with the right tools in place.

We broke the solution into three key phases: content structure, design system, and development.

Content Structure #

Before design, we thought like a business owner: “What kind of content would I need to grow?”

Scenic Stay was built to manage four key areas of content:

  • Listings for accommodations and experiences
  • Services like itinerary planning and trip packages
  • Happenings for seasonal events and local promotions
  • Blog for evergreen travel content and SEO growth

Each section is structured to be visually editable by the client using a friendly CMS — no technical skills needed.

Goal: Empower businesses to manage their own content with clarity, consistency, and ease.

Design #

We wanted Scenic Stay to feel warm, welcoming, and distinctly Idaho — while also pushing the boundaries of what’s typically seen in small business websites.

We used:

  • Earthy color palettes
  • Clean, breathable layouts
  • Friendly sans serif typography to bring out a modern feel
  • Visual hierarchy that guides users to action (booking, reading, exploring)

Each page was crafted to feel alive — not just another static template.

Key Design Choice: Blending editorial design with functional UI to mirror the feel of a travel magazine — but with conversion in mind.

Development #

Scenic Stay was built using our Site Stitcher system, which combines the speed of static sites with the flexibility of a CMS.

We focused on:

  • Performance: Pages consistently score 95+ on Lighthouse benchmarks
  • Scalability: New listings, events, and blogs can be added in minutes
  • Visual Editing: CloudCannon CMS gives full visual control with zero code
  • SEO: Every detail, from URL structure to metadata, was optimized from day one

Result: A dynamic, fast, and user-friendly site that looks great and works even better — ready for real-world business needs.

The Results #

While Scenic Stay is a demo, the outcome is very real:

Business owners seeing this site now understand what’s possible — and how much they may be missing.

It has become a conversation starter, a sales enabler, and most importantly, a visual proof of concept for the types of websites we can build for clients across all industries.
